We arrived in the little village after a difficult train journey due to thunderstorms and train problems. So as we walked towards our apartment we just enquired about availability.. @ 7.30 pm. Well it was let’s just get some food.. well it’s totally brilliant little restaurant amazing food and more luck than judgement.. it’s a little gem on the hill amazing fish lasagna with a great red. Enjoy. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: €60–70

We were excited for dinner at Fuori Rotta as it was recommended by our hotel , who made our reservation. Unfortunately we had a poor experience from start to finish. The waiter kept insisting for us to order a quail appetizer, which we were not interested in. When we decided on other dishes, he tried again to push the quail as an entree. Instead, I ordered the braised beef, which he said was a traditional slow cooked, beef dish. What arrived looked like blood sausage that may have spoiled. I tried to eat it, but unfortunately it was not to my liking - it happens. My friends also did not like their food and thats when things turned worse. The waiter started antagonizing us for not liking their food. He snatched the plates, marched in circles around the table and chanted “USA, USA, USA!!” This was by far the most rude service i have ever experienced. I hope the owner reads this and make some changes so that others that wander in can have a better outcome. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: €100+

We are sorry to read this review, especially because it describes a version of events that is very far from what actually happened at the table.Our staff simply recommended the quail because it is one of the most appreciated dishes on our menu, prepared with carefully selected ingredients and a strong connection to local culinary tradition. Of course, every guest is free to choose something else, as you did.What we found truly disappointing, however, was the enormous amount of food wasted during the evening: four plates of cima ligure were left almost untouched, despite being prepared with Cabannina beef, a rare native breed that is protected and raised with great care and dedication. For us, seeing dishes like these thrown away is painful, not only economically, but culturally as well.We always accept criticism when expressed respectfully, because taste is subjective. What is different is turning a dinner into a confrontational situation and describing our work in an offensive and disrespectful way.We will continue to serve authentic Ligurian cuisine based on research, tradition, and ingredients that deserve curiosity and respect.

We had the "Surprise" Menù Degustazione with 2 antipasti, starter, main course and dessert to choose from the menu for 40 euros per person. The chef was kind enough to be flexible with one of my friend who didn't eat octopus and created a different secondo piatto for her.
Our waiter was professional, knowledgeable and friendly, explaining each and every course.
Each plate was so beautifully presented, like a piece of art, on warm plates, and it was simply scrumptious. Every bite was pure bliss for the palate and the portions were just perfect.
We were there in October on a cold night and we were not able to enjoy the terrace even though it was ready for those who can brave the weather. But I can imagine how beautiful a setting it must be in the summer with amazing views on Riomaggiore.
I give it a well deserved 5* and thanks again for everything!
