Great pub to have a chat and have a drink (preferably a few pints) outside of the usual big pubs. Thanks to the waitress for the information about the area. Recommendable. Price per person: €1–10

I'm slowly but steadily working my way through "The Irish Pub" list and am glad to report that Gartlan's is another cracker. It's a great example of the old-school grocer\pub combo and has retained its authentic aesthetic in spite of a recent change in ownership. It's only open Thursday - Sunday and is looked after by big Conan who pours great pints of Guinness and plays a mean banjo! It attracts a friendly crowd and the craic is in good supply - I'll be back... Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
