Totally 100% disappointed. Booked a table for 5.15. arrived on time ordered food 5.20pm ... 6.30pm no food had arrived!!! After asking twice before this. Yes they were busy however if they had said there is 1 HR 10min waiting time for food, we could have left and ate elsewhere!!! We had to leave as we had tickets for the theatre. To add insult to injury people were coming in after us and being served food before us. So we left hungry annoyed and disappointed .... Never to return.Not the Gate Inn I remember. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

Food took a fair while to arrive, even then it was staggered with both me and my wife sat with our food while the kids were still not there. When the kids food did arrive it was only half, the garlic bread didn't come, even after another 15 minutes, to be told another is on as it was burnt, we waited another 15 minutes, in the end decided to leave it entirely. Mixed grill was one of the worst I'd personally eaten. The "Rump steak" was basically just a small lump of meat, completely undercooked to requests, Chicken was raw despite the waitress apologising with "The chicken just didn't want to cook", to discover it wasn't actually cooked! The Gammon steak was cremated, I'd have needed a hacksaw to get into it. In the end £17 inc sauce and I was only able to eat the 2 sausages, onion rings and a small portion of chips. Lovely pub overall, good environment and atmosphere, but as for food - I will never eat here again. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Me and my sister went today to the gate inn for some lunch as since its had a refurb we have wanted to try it. We ordered our food which was 2 lots of fish and chips and 2 portions of garlic bread which took an hour to arrive to our table despite the pub being quiet. The food was good but we both said the fish didnt taste quite right. Dont think we would come again simply because of how long it took the food to arrive Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £10–20
