Last weekend I was lucky enough to be taken on a very special tour through the Yarra Valley, as the guest of the Yarra Valley Regional Food Group. We were in search of good food and wine, and we found it in abundance. Orson Koch from Yarra Valley Transfers was our chauffeur for the day. Charming and knowledgeable, he was able to fill in the landscape with tall tales, local gossip and foodie tips. He could also drive, which was very handy because we had a lot to cover.

We visited as part of a winery tour. The talk on how they grow the capsicums in the greenhouse was good, but poorly planned as the older people in the tour were slowly giving up and making their way out of the oppressive humidity and back into the cafe. The platter of food was nice, the liqueurs were awful! Ask for a taste before you buy any, so overly sweet and off-tasting. The capsicums and jams were lovely though, and their sausage rolls looked amazing

We ate egg, bacon and cheese toasted sandwiches that tasted scrumptious! This was due to the quality ingredients and the Sweet Capsicum Relish which you can pick up in their shop.
