If you’re visiting Kanazawa, this is a must-visit. I’d love for you to enjoy the cuisine at a traditional Japanese ryotei. At a traditional Japanese ryotei, you’ll be served wonderful Japanese food and sake, but depending on the place, you might end up with a lavish set menu that can be quite expensive. However, at this restaurant, if you try the seasonal specialities recommended by the proprietress—which are only available at this time of year—you can experience authentic Japanese cuisine without having to order a full set menu. What’s more, they pair the food with sake that complements the Japanese cuisine, selecting bottles to suit your personal taste, so the sake goes down a treat. The landlady is also incredibly friendly, so the conversation is a real pleasure. I think it would be a lovely idea to take some of the sake you’ve enjoyed here home as a souvenir.
