Ghee Hiang is one of the most iconic heritage bakeries in Penang, famous for its authentic tau sar pneah with flaky pastry and rich mung bean filling that is perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. The pastries taste fresh, traditional, and high quality, making them a great souvenir or snack while visiting Penang. Besides their signature biscuits, their sesame oil is also very popular among locals. Overall, Ghee Hiang offers a classic old-school Penang bakery experience with authentic flavors, beautiful packaging, and a strong local reputation that has lasted for generations. Such great tasting cookies here. Tried many flavours as you can see. They also have sample sizes for some cookies in the store. Favourite style is the dark chocolate but the others are just as good. The Nasi lemak and chilli choc flavours are surprisingly good. Also tried the cold white coffee, and enjoyed that too. If you’re in Penang, get yourself some cookies!
