The food is made with love and care here by the owner and her sous chef. We came back twice because we enjoyed it so much. They have a changing daily menu, so we got to try some different dishes both times. Our favourites were the cabbage rolls, which had rice and meat inside, the meatballs in lemon sauce, the mixed gemista and dolma plate, and the stuffed zucchini flowers, which had an amazing flavour and texture. We ate some of these items at other tavernas around Greece but none of them had the same flavour and finesse that was evident in the dishes here. The owner gave us the sweetest watermelon at the end. We appreciated her genuine and kind hospitality and hope to return next time we are in Crete! Price per person: €10–15 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Lovely place and very affordable. It's in a nice quiet street with a lovely atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff was very friendly. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Chania Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €5–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Want a break from Gyros? I love Gyros of all kinds, but desire something else after a while. GiaKoDim hits the spot! To use an old phrase, “this food has soul”! I learned of it through Ka Mon Irish Pub in Chania (another fantastic venue—a home for musicians— both belonging to the dynamic couple, Monika and Karl)! We’ve eaten at GiaKoDim twice now and both times have experienced as other 5 Star reviews have stated. Yesterday we had stuffed cabbage leaves with yogurt garnish, which was a twist for us and really set the dish off! Followed by goat sautéed in greens creating a blend of tastes. I had chicken stewed with whole okra and spices which for me was a real pleasure. Just to mention, I was put off of okra in my younger years having it as prepared in the Statesbut here, I’ve come to love the style it’s prepared and this recipe at GiaKoDim is delicious. Great production, great food, reasonable price, friendly portions and friendly clean place. I observed a number of locals come in and purchase take away, I mean, a whole meal for more than one person. I also like that instead of having just one dish, you can ask for a little bit of several things if you can’t make up your mind. Like a mezze! Thank you! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €10–15 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Mostly carne but some of the dishes are vegetable only. One such dish yesterday was the peas with carrot and small potato stewed in a very pretty sauce. I was tempted and later saw a local senior citizen have just that alone with provided bread. Dietary restrictions: You can make selections from menu at table but are more likely to make your selections at the kitchen counter, dishes cooked in plain sight, and they can tell you if there is anything in a dish you might be concerned about.
