I rarely write reviews this enthusiastically, but Gini was genuinely the best restaurant experience of my entire trip through Sri Lanka. I was dining alone and was seated at the chef’s counter, with a perfect view of the kitchen team at work. Instead of ordering a main course, I tried several starters, and every single dish was outstanding. The cooking was precise, creative and full of flavour without ever feeling overcomplicated. The pandan dessert was so good that I ordered it twice, which probably says enough. I also had two of their cocktails, both of which were excellent. Service throughout the evening was impeccable — attentive, warm and professional without being intrusive. The setting is also fantastic: tucked away down a small side street, with both the restaurant and the kitchen outdoors. It feels intimate, relaxed and special at the same time. I usually try to include some constructive criticism in a review, but in this case I genuinely can’t think of anything I would change. For me, this was the perfect dinner experience in Sri Lanka and the perfect way to end the trip. An exceptional restaurant, and one I would return to without hesitation. We had such a wonderful evening at Gini. The food was delicious, but what really stood out was how much thought and flavour went into every dish. The cocktails were fabulous too — in particular, the gin, cucumber and mint cocktail, which was fresh, light and absolutely delicious. The standout dish of the night for us was undoubtedly the prawn sausage. It was something quite different and absolutely delicious — beautifully cooked prawns wrapped in the lightest, crispiest batter, with delicious Sri Lankan flavours and spices sprinkled over the top. It was one of those dishes that you immediately want to order again. And then there was the service. It was faultless from start to finish, with our waiter Anuj being a particular highlight. He was warm, attentive and incredibly knowledgeable, and his genuine enthusiasm and care made the whole evening feel special. Great food, fabulous cocktails, exceptional service and a wonderful atmosphere. We absolutely loved our evening at Gini and would highly recommend it — especially the prawn sausage and that gin, cucumber and mint cocktail! Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Ten out of ten meal. Sahan was a brilliant server and very knowledgeable on the cocktails and meals we ordered with some great recommendations. This place was the best place we’ve eaten at in Colombo and is worth the money! Good value considering the quality. Price per person: Rs 10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
