Giolitti, the legendary gelateria in Rome, serves authentic and homemade gelato that is simply unparalleled. The establishment's ambiance is bustling and lively, with a constant stream of customers eager to indulge in their sweet treats. The interior design exudes old-world charm and sophistication, transporting diners back to the late 19th century. The prices are reasonable, with most gelato flavors ranging from 3€-6€. Located just a short distance from the Trevi Fountain, Giolitti is an ideal spot to cool off after a day of sightseeing.
One of the establishment's signature dishes is the Baileys Irish Cream gelato, which is rich and creamy with a hint of coffee flavor. Another popular option is the Straciatella, a classic Italian flavor featuring chocolate chips swirled into vanilla gelato. In addition to gelato, Giolitti also offers a variety of pastries and confections, including cannoli and cookies. For those looking for a non-alcoholic beverage, the establishment serves refreshing soft drinks such as lemonade and iced tea. Wine is not served at Giolitti, as it is primarily a dessert establishment.
Giolitti's reputation precedes itself - it was famously featured in the film "Roman Holiday," where Audrey Hepburn's character indulges in their delicious gelato. Despite its popularity, the establishment is well worth the visit for anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable gelato experience.
Simple food menu with sandwiches. Not their specialty. The gelato... it was so good! We had a long walk back to our hotel after completely pigging out at this very wonderful Gelateria with a long history of putting smiles on peoples faces!
The best gelato I've had in my whole life, this place is amazing. The coconut and pistachio gelatos were to die for, they're so rich and made with high quality ingredients. The staff here doesn't speak much English so we ended up overpaying because we couldn't communicate properly with them. But instead of keeping the extra money, they gave us extra food! Super friendly and the atmosphere is so nice.
We visited 15 gelato places during our week long trip in Italy and I consistently ordered pistachio because I’m such a big fan Giolitti is a century old shop that got fame because it was old? Regrettably the gelato was just alright. It was lacking real pistachio flavour, icy and slightly too sweet compared to others. Service was cold and ordering at the counter was chaotic. Perhaps you should still visit as it’s famous but don’t make the mistake of getting a large cup like I did. Get a small so you can save room for better gelato.
