Quite an interesting and popular little coffee shop close to the station. About 25 seats with decorations all over the map. Lots of old stuff and a bunch of LED stuff. I don't recognize anything that would relate to Kyoto and the name Gion. Perhaps two of the lamps? No background music or Wi-Fi. My coffee was sweetened, which may be a hint about the regular customers? I think there's an interesting flavor underneath, but I can't tell for the sweetness. Maybe I'm being unfair, especially considering the crowd, but I'm going to call it a flat four stars. Price per person: ¥1–1,000 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

After wandering around the neighborhood one morning, I found this unexpected café. The decor feels timeless and charming, I was truly amazed as soon as I walked in. Even though I was a foreigner, I was given a very warm welcome. I enjoyed a delicious coffee along with sandwiches made right in front of me. The two people serving (one a bit older and one younger) were absolutely lovely. The older one even gave me a small postcard. Come recharge your batteries here!
