Still 5 stars. ..Wierd, but this is Stephanie Izard's only restaurant I really enjoy. The others are just ok. Be sure to order the Pork Shank, Wood Fired Broccoli, the Liver Mousse (primarily for those delicious biscuits) and definitely the Caramel Corn & Malt Balls. These aren't fine dining prices, but the $18 dishes can add up quickly. Overall, one of my Chicago favs. Read my previous review and skim the pictures for more detail.
This place should really be called, Girl & the Vegetable. Their vegetable dishes far exceeded their meat dishes. We ordered a few popular meat dishes, but most tasted extremely gamey. Their Pig Face was salty and greasy. It's definitely slightly overpriced and overhyped. I much prefer Little Goat Diner's menu options and prices. Would I come here again? Mmm, maybe if it's for someone's birthday party or a corporate dinner. I'll probably order green beans and an empanada next time. Oh, maybe the pasta dish too. It was the best meat entree we had. There's definitely an array of other delicious, worth-it places in Chicago I need to try before I come back here.
The food, drinks, ambience and service was amazing. The Girl & the Goat lives up to its reputation. There’s a reason why the restaurant is always booked solid. So happy to have made it this trip!
