The Gold River in Chelmsford is widely regarded as one of the best fish and chip shops in the area, and it's easy to see why. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the food is freshly cooked to order. The portion sizes are generous, with a large cod being enough for two people, and the quality of the fish and chips is top-notch. The curry sauce is also highly recommended! The shop is clean and hygienic, and there is plenty of parking available. All in all, The Gold River is a great place to go for traditional fish and chips, and they deserve all the praise they receive. Highly recommended!

Always fresh, always tasty and the staff are super friendly and chatty. Not many proper chippies like this left so it's a blessing to have it within walking distance. Excellent Fish & Chips at reasonable prices without compromising the portion size like others. I have tried all the others over the years but Gold River is the only one who turns out quality fish and chips without issue.
