This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem. The food tasted delicious, helpful staff, and good ambiance. If you are thinking about whether or not to try this place, stop, and just go! You won’t be disappointed. Cheers! Ps: there’s a lounge right opposite to the restaurant and they have pool tables & slot machines Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $100+

This iconic restaurant has been in operation for over 45 years in Calgary's Chinatown. Its been the go to place after last call at licensed establishments for decades. Unfortunately, they will be closed permanently after August 27, 2022 so it's been packed for weeks with loyal customers wanting to get in one last meal. We were there tonight to bid a fond farewell and the Deep Fried Oysters and the Chicken and Creamed Corned soup (just a couple of our favorite dishes) tasted exactly the same as they did when we first tried them over 40 years ago. Thanks for the memories - you will be missed!

Our dining experience at Golen Inn. Last night, we were two couples and went to eat at the Golden Inn Chinese Restaurant. My husband has allergies to shell fish so we discussed this with the waiter and he assured us that what we ordered would not be a problem. When a large bowl of hot and sour soup arrived, and about to start eating the waiter informed us that there may be shell fish in the soup. No replacements, no apologies, no substitutes. So three of us began having our soup and immediately all our other food began to arrive. We politely asked to hold the food until we finished our soup. The rude answer was that we are too late, all the food is coming.
We cannot recommend Golden Inn due to awful food,bad service, and lack of attention to someone with food allergies. No wonder they have to stay open until 3am!
