Came here for lunch yesterday. The hotel was undergoing renovation outside, so we had to get in through a side entrance, which made it a bit difficult to find. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the hotel. When we arrived it was completely empty and we get the whole venue to ourselves. We ordered some dim sum, fried rice and some wonton soup. Food was very tasty when it arrived. What i find strange is how long everything took to make. Even though we were the only ones here. So we ate and then waited for a while, ate and waited. It makes me think how much value we would get if we opted for the all you can eat Dim sum buffet.

I had a reservation with Eatigo app for Monday night. I figured 50% off would make the dinner worth it. When I first walked into the Golden Palace there was only one person eating dinner. I wish I went with my intuition and just walked out right when I arrived. It isn’t a good sign when there almost no customers. I proceeded to order dinner: steam porked hom bao, shrimp shu mai, fried rice with pork and shrimp, bbq duck, hot and sour soup, seafood salad. The dim sum dishes were of good quality. Everything else seemed old and mediocre. The server asked me what I wanted to drink. I told him water was fine not realizing I would be charged 50 baht a bottle for regular bottled water. Paying for water seems ridiculous considering a full priced dinner is 1000 baht. The server came by my table too often to see how I was doing. When there are only two customers in your restaurant I can see why the server would check in so often. About 30-40 minutes into eating I started feeling lethargic and disoriented. Something was clearly wrong with the food, but I thought, “maybe I’m not as hungry as I thought I was”. I requested my check and went to the lobby of the Windsor Suites to relax. I still felt awful about 30-40 minutes after dinner and went back to my room. I was so nausea by the time I made it to my room I was dry heaving after I ran out of food to throw up. I woke up every 2-3 hours throughout the night with major diarrhea. Do yourself a favor and do not go to the Golden Palace. I requested my money back from the Windsor Suites management and he told me they would make an exception this time, but normally they require proof. Proof of food poisoning in Thailand means going to the hospital and getting a fecal exam. I’m not sure what that costs or who pays depending on the results. I didn’t make it to the hospital. When I went to checkout at the hotel and get my 650 baht refunded the receptionist said they were not refunding my money. I told her the manager said he would make an exception this time. Apparently he doesn’t know what the word exception means. This is bad business! Good luck calling yourself a 4 star hotel.
