Um... so it was my first time trying Mao Cai and it was... one of the most memorable food experiences I've ever had. I've lived in Chatty for around 10 years now and every time I go past this food court, I see dozens of Chinese people eating out of these bronze noodle soup dishes. Out of curiousity, I tried it after being tempted for around 3 years and I have to say...
I wish I never ate it.

Maybe it's because I'm not great with spice but my tongue was abused on a new level. I was not sure if was crying and and waterfall-ing snot trying to look classy in public from the overload of salt or spice (or both) but it wasn't a pleasant experience. This is like... one of those youtube can-you-finish-this challenge dishes that you would eat then get stomach cancer afterwards.

I don't know if I'm getting the spices confused but I feel like there's a lot of msg in here - my tongue feels like the aftermath of eating the sodium and spice of ten ramen noodles.

There were a lot of veggies tho! (the amount was pretty good)
bit pricey

Best part,
the beaming chinese chef inside was the most friendly man I've ever met.
i didn't know he would kill me with his dish.

Really don't think it's as bad as some of the other reviews suggest. It's a Sichuan dish, so you have to expect it to be spicy. I got the stew version with meat, which had beef strips, tripe, luncheon meat, blood jelly, quail eggs, bean sprouts & wombak. Not the best mix of meat, definitely could've done without the luncheon meat. Overall it was not bad, but a little pricey for what you get.

Word restaurant ever. Hard to swallow, grease and unexpected awkward spicy.

Even the price is quite expensive. My mate and I couldn't eat all.

I CANNOT HOW TO DESCRIBE THESE FOOD.
Do not try this.
