Fantastic food, everything we ordered was so good, sushi, baby chicken, tenderloin. Even the soya saus tasted wonderful. The waiter was very attentive and helpful with his recommendations. Good choice for a fancy lunch or diner. High quality fish dishes. The meal was an experience itself. For larger companies great choice in appetizers, where we could preorder a set. Service was nice and we felt well taken care of. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €35–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Katrina, thank you! Pre-ordering appetizer sets for larger groups is a great move, and we're glad it worked well. The fish dishes are something we take real pride in. Welcome back!

Today, June 6, 2026, my wife and I decided to have lunch at Gongu Restaurant on Palasta iela 9, Riga, and honestly, this was one of those dining experiences that stays with you long after you leave the restaurant. From the very beginning, everything felt right. The staff were exceptionally polite, welcoming, and professional without ever being intrusive. They took the time to explain the restaurant’s concept, answered our questions, and helped us choose the dishes, which made us feel genuinely cared for. The interior deserves special mention as well. Stylish, elegant, and thoughtfully designed down to the smallest details, it creates an atmosphere that feels both modern and unique. We started with Open Rolls: Salmon, bluefin tuna, and hamachi. The salmon Open Roll was without a doubt the highlight of the appetizers and one of the most memorable dishes of the entire meal. It is difficult to describe just how delicious it was. Every bite was perfectly balanced, delicate, and incredibly satisfying. The tuna and hamachi versions were also very good, but the salmon version was simply on another level. We also ordered the artichoke and enoki mushroom salad. The ingredients were fresh and the combination was interesting, although for our taste there was a bit too much dressing, which slightly overshadowed the natural flavors of the dish. For the main courses, we chose two different ramen bowls, one with salmon and one with duck, as well we ordered kimchi fried rice with chicken. The kimchi fried rice with chicken was absolutely fantastic. The chicken was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, while the rice had just the right amount of richness and spice. A dish we would gladly order again. Both ramen bowls were very enjoyable. The duck was incredibly tender and practically melted in the mouth, while the salmon was juicy, soft, and beautifully cooked. Comforting, flavorful dishes that perfectly suited the restaurant’s concept. For dessert, we had Mochi with mango and passion fruit. We enjoyed them, although they were not the standout of the meal. A pleasant dessert to finish with, but the real stars were definitely the savory dishes. What impressed us most was how much care and attention seemed to go into every aspect of the experience, from the service and atmosphere to the presentation and flavors. By the end of the lunch, both of us agreed on one thing: we will definitely be coming back. Gongu Restaurant left us with one of the best dining impressions we’ve had in a long time, and we can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent food, outstanding service, and a truly memorable restaurant experience in Riga. Aleksandrs, what an incredibly detailed and thoughtful review! It's rare to receive feedback that covers every element of the experience so precisely. The salmon open roll is one of our proudest dishes, and we're glad it stood out. Your note about the dressing on the artichoke salad is valuable and has been passed to the kitchen. The fact that both of you agreed on coming back before even leaving the restaurant is the highest compliment. We look forward to your return!
