It's my opinion that Goodman Bakes is a decent bakery even though it's not to my taste. I like that the baked goods we had were fresh and had pleasant textures. I also like that the level of sweetness wasn't over the top. That said, the baked goods were also very bland in flavor and were contrary to what one would expect based on the labels in the display case. Here, a bear claw isn't really a bear claw and a babka isn't really a babka. The baked goods are actually very loose interpretations that belie the labeling. Also, though I commend the bakery for not going over the top with sugar, in this case some more sugar may have actually been in order. I wouldn't wish to discourage anyone from trying this bakery out (I certainly don't regret giving it a try). You may enjoy the interpretive baking more than my companion and I did. AN AWESOME BAKERY! Got there not too late in the morning, so the selection was plentiful. Wound up having to get a sampler box, from the Babka, Cinnamon Roll, Bear Claw, Hand Pie, Cookie and some other things that got eaten too quickly to remember! That Hand Pie!!! The girl behind the counter undersold that bad boy!!! Great filling to crust ratio, that crust was even better than you can describe. Buttery, flakey, and no aftertaste like a cheap bakery gives you. Worth every dollar!!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Some people love wine or craft beer or different types of international cuisine, but baked goods are my weapon of choice. I was sleeping on this place for some unknown reason and finally stopped by this week. Twice. Hands down the best bakery in Rochester. We're gonna be such good friends.
