We had dinner at Göz Balık Lara in Antalya, a seafood restaurant awarded one Toque by Gault&Millau. ️ Choosing from the extensive selection of imaginative and unusual mezes was no easy task. From purslane with strawberries to more traditional favorites, everything we tried was executed with great care and quality. The standout dishes for me were the Fava and Girit Ezmesi. ️ Naturally, everything was paired with Tekirdag Göbek Raki, as one does at a seafood restaurant in Turkey. An acquired taste perhaps, but one that feels inseparable from a proper meze experience. ️ For our main, we shared a beautifully cooked local fish called Grida (also known as Lagos), prepared simply and perfectly to let the quality of the fish shine. ️ A dinner without dessert is like a book without a meaningful ending, so we culdn't resist trying both the Sutlu Kadayıf and the Pumpkin Dessert. The latter was exceptional - topped with tahini and crushed walnuts, it was one of the highlights of the evening. I'd happily return just for that dish. ️ Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience in an elegant setting that reflects Antalya's maturity and confidence as one of Turkey's premier destinations.
