Hotel? Yes, youth hostel level. The niceness and friendliness has been destroyed here. Understaffed in staff, no atmosphere in the rooms or apartments. A breakfast that has clearly been economised on and has no crack or taste. Shame! First time on Schier; never staying there again. Rooms: 3 Service: 3 Location: 3

This hotel has a very interesting story. Graaf Bernstorff, a german noblety, was for a long time the owner of Schiermonnikoog until after the WW2 the Dutch government disowned it and Schiermonnikoog became a community (gemeente). The gemeentehuis (community offices) is next to the hotel. Anyway you can look up the history in wikipedia. The hotel itself is pleasant, rooms are good, but matresses far too soft to my taste. Since the hotel is in the centre of Schiermonnikoog village it can be a bit noisy when festivities are going on.
