The rubbery chicharrón (pure rubber!!!), the extra dry arepas (how old and overheated) and I asked for "pork chop" and it wasn't a pork chop, it was a steak, I asked for a salad and they didn't bring me dressing... Price per person: $30–50 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

I went today to The Gran Colombia restaurant around 1:30 pm for a late lunch with my family. The restaurant was crowded and the noise level was high. A lot of stimulation going on with several TV's streaming the Real Madrid game and loud Shakira music. We ordered three beans Antioqueños with fried pork belly and plantain ( green banana) plus 4 empanadas. Somehow the empanadas were a bit different but the rice and beans were spot on. To drink we ordered a coke and a Mango milkshake. Our food took over 20 minutes to get to our table and our waiter never came back to check on us so my mother called him over to check on our food. Seems like mediocre service is typical for this restaurant. Come to find out that the restaurant was sold about a year ago. The previous owner would come out and greet people. She would help her waitstaff and would always check on things. Definitely noticed the difference in service. Also in the previous review I commented that the restaurant charged me for some fees that were not itemized on the receipt. Well this time I saw a charge for credit processing fee which makes things transparent with the exception of one thing we were paying in cash! The charge was automatically added to my check and the waiter said they'd take it off automatically. As much as I like this restaurant I don't agree with some of their business practices. Our check was 43.00 plus tip. The bottom line is the food is good but the service does need improvement.
