It was the holiday of our dreams thanks to this hotel (with a few caveats). We stayed an entire week and loved every minute, especially thanks to the bar staff (Hi Sacha!) and the musical entertainment (Hi Claudio!) It's a 1960s time capsule of art and statuary. Stylish, immaculate, perfect service...you expected to see Sophia Loren stroll out over the perfectly kept grounds with a cigarette holder at any moment. It's the kind of place where you dress for dinner, as my mother would say so ladies, bring your fashion and men, look smart! Calm and quiet most of the time, but boisterous for the San Remo musical festival or other corporate events, so it depends on when you go. A nice 20 minutes walk or a few minutes drive from the Old City or the boardwalk. We were too early in the season for the pool club but I bet it is fantastic. Caveats: First, unfortunately, the restaurant was terrible, not up to the standard of the hotel - Hire a new chef that can at least manage scrambled eggs please! Second, even hotel guests had to PAY a daily (!!) usage fee for the spa, as a hotel that bills itself as the "Gran Hotel di Mari ET SPA" that was outrageous.
