Grandpa Noodle Gallery is well known for its great service and friendly staff, that is always ready to help you. Delicious meals at attractive prices are offered here. When inside, the atmosphere is lovely. This place has received 4 on the Trip site.

Wow, the grandparents cooked up a good meal tonight. With entrees ranging from soups to ramen dishes to lo mein, this interesting restaurant is one to put on the list of good authentic eateries in Ames. Personally I went with a build your own dish, having ground beef teriyaki ramen. Although I wish I would have gotten sliced beef or chicken instead, that regret did not take away from the dish itself. The rest of the dish containing broccoli, green peppers and mushrooms was able to hold up its end of the bargain. I attended dinner with some special friends here and each one of them enjoyed their dish without any complaints. Besides the food, some other notable points to this evaluation were the good service and cleanliness of the place. I was surprised to see that the bathrooms were clean enough that I could have taken my meal in there to eat and given the same 4 star review. Don't get me wrong, this "gallery" isn't amazing...but it's definitely something to talk about when the choice of where to eat out comes up. And if you don't want to write a Yelp review like I have here, they welcome criticism via a comment card given out with the bill, showing that they care about the continuous improvement of their establishment. Due to the recent closure of Taste Place on Lincoln Way in Ames, there has been a shift of Chinese students to eating at Grandpa Noodle Gallery on 16th Street. I had the chance to visit this recommendation during my recent trip to Ames, and I ended up visiting a second time during the same short trip because the food was that good. In a nutshell, there are 2 sides to the menu, and I recommend everything on the left side of the menu. The right side of the menu has a bunch of a la carte dishes, which are okay, but nothing great. I was told that the recent improvement of the menu came about as the restaurant got a new chef. The service was friendly and prompt and the price is reasonable. There doesn't seem to be any issue with waiting for a seat as there are plenty of seating for parties of all sizes.
