Grano Lab’s modern website promises an inventive, East London-style dining vibe for Swindon, but the actual experience falls well short. While the restaurant was apparently taken over and updated within the last decade, the interior still feels dated and stuck in the 90s. Service was quick to take our order and starters arrived promptly, but the wait for mains was far too long. The food was a major letdown:. Starters: The house-made focaccia was decent, but the accompanying pesto and parmesan cream were completely unseasoned. The burrata lacked flavor and was served with bland, cold fridge tomatoes. Mains: The carbonara was gloopy, made with a floury sauce, and tasted like heavy Mac and cheese with burnt, overcooked lardons. The lamb ragu was watery, made with basic mince instead of slow-cooked chunks, and lacked any depth or seasoning. There wasn't one single disaster serious enough to justify complaining on the night, but the execution and flavors were just really disappointing and not to our taste. We won't be returning unless quality improves significantly. Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: £40–50
