Have you heard of Templeton, CA? Yeah, me neither. It's next to Paso Robles, and the most conspicuous landmark is a gigantic feed and grain silo right off Main Street. Josh Brolin was raised here, and Sandy Koufax retired here. Jamie W. and I ended up in this unassuming hamlet looking for a little lunch before spending our evening at the dazzling Sensorio. This spot has a unique set-up, a handsome standalone shack with olive green trim where you order and the two-woman staff prepare the food. There was a separate building where you can dine and a more inviting patio space further back. Jamie and I were both intrigued by the same item, the $10.99 Cheeseburger Salad, which didn't necessarily sound healthy but... It felt like a signature dish, so why not? It was pretty tasty, surprisingly so. While the lettuce, tomato and onion were as expected, the grassfed ground beef was fresh tasting like it just came from the ranch which in this case, was quite possible. The cheese wasn't shredded but rather cut into strips. The croutons and balsamic vinaigrette were nice complements (photo: bit.ly/3FqTAVJ ). What more could I want? How about their holiday special, the $5.99 Pumpkin Spice Shake? Well, of course, it was the next best thing to a pumpkin spice latte. It was big and thick and enough to make me consider retirement in Templeton like Sandy (photo: bit.ly/3VKBHq2 ). OK, it wasn't that great but it was sure a nice treat with my cheeseburger salad. Templeton rocks. FOOD - 4 stars...cheeseburger salad! pumpkin spice shake!...what more do you want? Really missing martins on main!!!!! My burger today was dry- bun was really dry too. The fries were tough. So disappointing. I wanna support local biz but this was really subpar. Maybe I chose a bad day. Pricing isn't bad and staff is very kind.

I'm all for casual burger joints - grabbing yourself a big ol' juicy burger that's made to order can't be beat. Went to Grassfed by Rangeland and had an excellent experience. Meat is at the top of its class, and everything is fresh. I'd go so far as to say it's better than In-n-Out!
