I had high hopes for Greca after hearing good things, but after three visits, I can honestly say it was a terrible experience each time, and it only seemed to get worse. On my first visit, the service was decent, though the food was underwhelming. I brushed it off, thinking everyone has an off day. However, during my second visit, I faced noticeably rude service. The staff seemed dismissive, and my order was incorrect. I was starting to feel uncomfortable, but I thought maybe it was just a coincidence. By the third visit, it was clear that something was seriously wrong. The food was cold, the waitstaff were outright hostile, and I couldn't shake the feeling that my skin color was a factor in the treatment I received. It was disheartening to see others getting better service while I was ignored and treated poorly. This restaurant has gone from disappointing to unacceptable. I won’t be returning, and I truly hope they reassess how they treat all customers. DO NOT GO TO GRECA MEDITERRANEAN KITCHEN IN NEW MILFORD IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE GARBAGE!!!!! Our visit to Greca Mediterranean Kitchen + Bar proved to be a most welcome (and unexpected) event. In contrast to the usual "mediterranean fusion" restaurant (complete with predictable menus composed of popular Italian and Greek dishes cooked as fast food) Greca Mediterranean Kitchen + Bar leads with authentic Greek dishes. Located in Northwest Central Connecticut in a strip mall between the town center of New Milford (worth a walkaround before your meal. Be sure to check out the vintage World War 1 tank prominently placed in the mall) and the town of Kent, Greca Mediterranean Kitchen + Bar offers the "real deal" Greek Cuisine. This was our first visit to the restaurant. We opted to sample the appetizer list including the Meze Trio (we chose Tzatziki, Hummus Fava, and Melitzanosalata. Pita bread is included) - $17.00. A word on Melizanosalata: The standout is eggplant. During my visit to Targoviste, Romania this last summer I had an opportunity to sample the Romanian equivalent of this dish - Zacusca, and loved it. We also ordered Beets Scordalia due to the yellow beets at the center or the dish. The beets sit on what this restaurant calls "garlic potato spread" - a bed of a combination of lemon potatoes with small chunks of Feta cheese - $9.00. I asked our friendly waitress about the composition of the Feta cheese. I was surprised to hear Greca's Feta is made with Sheeps Milk - a rarity these days, not only here in the US, but also in Eastern Europe. If readers are fans of garlic, I would recommend requesting an extra helping. The garlic in our serving of Beets Scordalia was subdued - typical of most of the restaurants I have dined at over the last few years in the US. Tyrokafteri - $9 - was a standout, although the patties looked machine made, a clear point of difference with their Romanian cousins - Kefte. We selected Loukaniko - $15 - for its protein, & Ochtapodi (a favorite of ours going back to our visits to restaurants offering Greek cuisine located in Astoria, and Roslyn NY during the period of 2010 - 2021) - $23 -along with full appetizer course versions of Fava - $9, and Zucchini Keftedes - $13. Dessert included Baklava (made without recourse to syrup - ample crushed walnuts) and, I believe, Galaktoboureko. Greca Mediterranean Kitchen + Bar should be high on your list if you are looking for mouthwatering food while traveling in Northwest Central Connecticut. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
