Had dinner tonight a G's place a little dive bar here in Hollywood on Dixie highway a block north of Hollywood blvd. I saw they had NY strip steak with two sides for thirteen bucks and while that steak and Ale Pie at Kingshead tickled my itch it didn't quite satisfy my steak craving so I decided to go for it and I'm quite glad I did. To my pleasant surprise they have it for ten bucks on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well, although you have to get a beer with it but for only a dollar more than originally intended I got a steak dinner and a beer, not bad. In addition every part of the meal was absolutely deicious, I was not expecting such a rich and flavorful meal. First off was the corn, I was a little disappointed at first when I saw it was on the cob with my teeth and all but after the first bite I was a very happy boy. The corn was so sweet and buttery. Every bite was a delight. I don't know why they gave me melted butter, this corn was perfect just as is. Then there was the mashed potatoes. Again I was disappointed seeing no gravy but these potatoes were so flavorful with just the right amount of garlic and herbs and not too salty, just so mmmmmm. I saw they gave me sour cream and like an idiot I used some, they were much better without it, luckily I didn't cover the entire thing and got to enjoy the potatoey goodness the way the chef intended. Finally it's time for the steak. Earlier in the meal the bartender asked if I wanted A1 and I told her sure. Well I had to apologize to the little lady for making her do extra work because I did not need it at all. The meat was so flavorful all the way through to the center and it was cooked perfectly, just the way I like it nice and rare with a dark red center. Mmm mmm mmm. It also was surprisingly easy on my chompers, I even ate the fat which was just as flavorful as the rest of the steak, if not more so. If you're in Hollywood you gotta check out G's place. You will not be disappointed.
