Second time at Guccio and this time, we ordered Chef's Menu with wine pairings - the degustation experience was absolutely fantastic. Definitely one of my top 3 Italian restaurants in SG. Every dish was exquisite and each portion were on point. The whites and reds were paired harmoniously. We also ordered a few ALA carte as we had a young one with us. Our girl loved their lamb ragout fettuccine. We also tried their Sakoshi Bay oysters - mildly refreshing, has a surprisingly clean taste and beautifully paired with a small glass of prosecco. With so many rave Google reviews of Guccio , this contemporary Italian restaurant certainly doesn’t disappoint . In fact to describe Guccio in Latin ,“Multum in parvo” or many words in few , its food can be summed up definitely as profoundly soulful , intense , indulgent exuding the comforting warmth of northern Milanese cuisine . It was really heartening to discover that this restaurant serves a 3 course set lunch on a Sunday at $46 ++ . Tucked away among the shophouses of a quiet Gemmill Lane , I was greeted with warm hospitality by the restaurant staff who accommodated my request for a booth seating table and service was impeccable from the start till the end . The cauliflower soup that was served as a starter , arrived looking pale golden and silky with croutons . Taste wise it was velvety in texture and heavier in terms of its flavour with a luxurious blend of cream and butter . Unlike its southern Italian version , northern Milanese gastronomic fare is more dairy centric . For diners preferring a lighter appetiser , the Insalata and Promodori salads with fresh lettuce , basil, tomatoes , seared tuna etc is recommended . The Calamarata pasta served next was a visual surprise , as the pasta was shaped like thick golden rings resembling calamari . Portions were ample , sauce was light and had subtle hints of the comforting flavours of the bits of prawns and tomatoes . My only critique is that I wished I had more sauce to sample together with the pasta . As the sauce was mainly simmered beneath a bed of pasta , the upper pieces remained a tad dry . I also managed to sample the slow cooked suckling pig with apple compote and berry sauce . The Milanese approach emphasizes simplicity, gentle seasoning, and slow roasting to highlight the natural flavor and tenderness of the meat. True to this approach , the pig’s skin remained crispy , with the meat mildly savoury and natural coupled with aromatic herbal undertones that hints of rosemary , sage & bayleaf . Definitely a celebratory dish with restrained savouriness . And finally to conclude the meal , the decadent chocolate mousse and affogato , both of which effortlessly lingered on to my tastebuds , with creamy richness balancing off the heaviness of the pasta. It was an overwhelming hearty set lunch , certainly worth another return visit to indulge in some elegant fare that teases my palate unexpectedly . Dining Experience @ Guccio Ristorante. . Ambience strikes a balance between modern sophistication and cozy intimacy. Decor is subtle and classy, with a distinctly Italian flair, calling to mind seaside cottages. Furnishings are spacious and comfortable, with tables set neatly. There's subtle use of lights, bright but not harsh. The atmosphere can be buzzing and lively when crowded, with manageable ambient noise. . Service is attentive and thoughtful. Staff warmly greet guests, and demonstrate good product knowledge as they describe the menu. They maintain a professionally warm demeanour, striking a balance between formality and friendliness. I note they proactively offer to top up drinks, and clear finished plates quickly throughout the meal. The kitchen fulfils orders quickly too. . Food is Italian nouvelle cuisine, each dish crafted to highlight a specific ingredient, all of which were executed with precision and flair, made according to traditional family recipes of Chef Marco Guccio. Curated menus feature seasonal produce, yet the consistency in quality of execution remains. Portions are sized for individuals. Prices reflect the fine dining status, budget about SGD $100 per person. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
