Try something new from the Spanish cuisine. Being at this bar, degust good beef cheeks, fish and risotto. You will be offered such food as tasty yorkshire pudding, don't hesitate to try it.
The wine list is diverse, it can satisfy the needs of all clients. Most visitors consider the staff cheerful. Gustav's is remarkable for its professional service. Prices are found democratic here. There is a pleasant atmosphere and cute decor at this place.

I like this place a lot, disappointed the Tapa menu is gone (was great last time i ventured over this side of town). Woolston platter nice, but needed spreads and more bread for $30 but nice all the same. Service very good can't fault nice people. I will be back.

I love this place. I live nearby and it is a total asset to the neighbourhood - I use it both as a casual place to drop in when I don't feel like cooking, and also to take friends from out of town to show off the amazing tannery. The wine and cocktail list is refined but comprehensive, and the tapas are awesome - delicious, sophisticated, ranging from light (pickled vegetables with fresh herbs, or pil pil prawns with garlic confit) and fresh to sticky, fried yumminess (Yorkshire puds, braised beef cheek croquettes). The decor is also beautiful and original and if you're lucky there will be a piano player in the house, giving it a luxey, retro lounge bar vibe.

Very disappointing. Waitress was rather snotty, service took too long and although the venison 'osso bucco' was very nice the portions were miserly. The risotto was barely three to four tablespoons and the osso bucco were tiny. Not good value at all. We visit Christchurch from Kerikeri fairly frequently but will not go back to Gustav's at any price. And they don't cater for children, which is appalling.
