Halcyon is my go to place for hands down the best chocolate expresso martini I have ever had. The other specialty and seasonal martinis are also a must and I always look forward to trying them. The staff is so nice and on top of things. They actually seem happy to see customers rather than too cool care which is the vibe at some places in Austin and that vibe just ain’t it for me. But when I go to Halcyon everyone is down to earth and attentive. The bartenders are some of the best I have had, the food is tasty and reasonably priced and again those coffee martinis stand alone as a reason to visit. It’s definitely a local favorite of mine. Halcyon is one of those downtown spots that works for almost anything—coffee in the afternoon, a casual meet-up, or cocktails later at night. The vibe is laid-back but still feels “downtown,” with plenty of seating and a solid patio for people-watching on 4th Street. Drinks are well-made, and it’s nice having food options too (the tabletop s’mores are a fun add-on if you’re hanging with friends). It can get busy on weekends, but overall it’s a dependable, easy choice when you want a relaxed bar-lounge feel without the club chaos.
