We drove about an hour and half from WNC and our daughter drove up from Columbia for a Mother’s Day celebration. We were not disappointed in our meal and our time spent together at Half Rooted. Everything was delicious. The owner took time to greet us and suggest items for everyone. If you’re in the Greenville area it is worth stopping in for a meal. First and foremost, Carlos and his cousin, John, treated my friendly very well! Thank you fellas! I immediately enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant when I walked in. A great deal of Colombian decor as well as a lot of space. Tables for eating and other furniture for a more laid-back experience. Now it was onto the food. Personally, I got a Patacan (see photo), as recommended by Carlos. It is a fried green plantain with pineapple habanero, jam, aji, salso rosada, pineapple slaw and queso fresco. I put shredded chicken on it as well (also a choice of shredded beef and cashew mushrooms). Word to the vegans! When I say this thing was spectacular I mean it with all my tastebuds. There was a fusion of amazing flavors bursting to life in my mouth. The combo of crunch, but not too much, as well as heartiness in each bite was top of the charts. It wasn't huge, but it had so much in it (literally) it was more than enough to satisfy my appetite. After that, we ordered various empanadas as well. They were also quite delicious but there was something missing. I felt they had a bit of blandness to them. I at least would have liked them to be a little more salty. The texture and the taste were solid, but not at the level of the Patacan. Everyone else in my family were satisfied with what they ordered as well. My mom even tried her very first TCH beverage (my dad had a few sips as well). They're both children of the 60's so it all made sense. John explained the story of Half-Rooted, and it made me stop and appreciate the importance of a blended culture of American people. That is who we are, and that is what we should strive to always be. Carlos and John, thank you for bring Half-Rooted to Greenville! Thankfully, I see this city as a more progressive city in the south. I'm praying that you get plenty of business, and receive the respect you deserve as human-beings from the surrounding community. Blessings, Josh and the Gonzales family Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

So as a Colombian I don’t normally like to eat at Colombian places because it’s the same at the house or more often better. I will say I’m glad I ventured into this spot. Super friendly and the burger was fire. I also don’t review a bunch of places cuz eh but every so often one hits the spot and it’s good to highlight it. Will be coming back for sure!
