Really cool dining experience in an authentic old diner. I had the Hangover Cheeseburger with bacon, egg and all the fixings. Only $10.50. Heck of a price and way better than McDonald's. I don't recommend the cheese and bacon fries as the cheese is from a can and the manufacturer has made it so watered down it barely has flavor. Not the restaurant's fault, but it is what it is. Obviously this restaurant has tipping, but even with that it's still a cheaper and better experience than fast food. They have great outdoor seating for those beautiful days when you can. The Greater Gouda is next door and has a wonderful selection of cheese. They do, however, need to fix their outdoor sign as the squeaking and banging in high wind is majorly annoying if you're dining outside. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20

Nothing says old-fashioned small-town diner quite like Hamburger Inn. Yes, it’s busy, and yes, it’s lively, but that’s exactly part of the charm. From the bright red counter stools to the cheerful clatter of a packed little diner, it has exactly the atmosphere you’d expect from a local institution that’s been around since 1932. And don’t let the name fool you. This is definitely not just a burger place. They have a great selection of breakfast items, including massive four-egg omelets and breakfast sandwiches served on the largest homemade English muffins I’ve ever seen. My daughter’s omelet was huge, and they had no problem letting her customize it. I’m also a sucker for fresh-cut fries, so those were an automatic win for me. I’m very picky about my eggs and bacon, too. My eggs need to be medium-well, with solid whites and runny yolks, and my bacon has to be crisp. They absolutely did not disappoint. Someone across from us ordered milkshakes, and they came out exactly the way you hope they would at an old diner: mixed in the metal milkshake cup, poured into a glass with chocolate syrup drizzled down the inside, with the extra left at the table to finish. Just to level set expectations, this place is busy. Very busy. So this is not where you go if you’re looking for a super quick meal or a quiet, face-to-face, linger-over-conversation kind of breakfast. It’s mostly U-shaped counters and barstools, and seating is first come, first served. You walk in, look for open stools, and either grab a spot, wait, or come back another time. They do set up some sidewalk tables out front when the weather cooperates. If you time your visit for a Saturday morning during farmers market season, you can also enjoy the stalls set up right outside the door, which makes the whole thing even better. Otherwise, take some time to stroll up and down both sides of the street. There are some wonderful shops nearby, including The Greater Gouda, which is a great stop for cheese. We loved what we had, and I’m already looking forward to going back and trying something different. Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: $10–20

The Hamburger Inn Diner is a great little spot that truly reminds you of the classic diners of old. The service was excellent and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. The food was awesome, fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you walk into a traditional diner. Don't miss getting the cinnamon roll!! The only small drawback is that if it’s cold outside, you’ll want to avoid sitting by the door, as it can get a bit chilly. Other than that, it’s a fantastic place with great people, great service, and great food. Definitely worth stopping in. Highly recommend!! Meal type: Breakfast Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
