This place is pure Laos chaos in the best possible way. Open late at night, cold beer always available, great cocktails on the menu that I would be careful to try, and an absolutely amazing pool table. One moment you think you’ll just have a quiet drink — the next you’re playing billiards with local 14-year-old kids who casually smoke cigarettes, absolutely destroy you at pool, and happily teach you new Lao swear words. Iconic. There’s a cozy campfire outside, the vibes are super relaxed, and literally everyone is friendly and welcoming. Not a polished tourist bar at all — just real people, real fun, and unforgettable nights. If you’re looking for character instead of perfection, this place is a must. The go to bar in Pakbeng, not spoiled for choice, this place is welcoming lively and relies on the tourists in the slow boat to exist.
very good food as well, this is not a 5* package place that is fake.
The Happy Bar is an honest, authentic and welcoming bar, without a bit of fakery
