This was the first proper fish & chips I got in the UK, and oh my god, it didn't disappoint. Fish was perfect, fantastic, delicious, etc etc. Chips were flavorful and lovely. The guy behind the counter was courteous, but no-nonsense. He was there to get you your food, and by god, he's gonna do it. The place itself was a bit dirty, but nothing egregious nor a health concern. It's one of those places that you walk into and see that the love goes into what it should go into in a restaurant: the food. I also think I got a chicken burger (this was a couple years back), and I recall that being a pretty good burger. Not as good as the fish n chips (not a surprise), but it was still very good. After using Happy cod fish and chip shop for many years, this is the first bad experience I’ve had. My partner ordered fish and chips and two halloumi, once we gotten home we soon realised the fish wasn’t in the bag, I called the shop and questioned where the fish was and the waitress never actually processed this on our order, we agreed id be back for the fish in a few minutes. When I got to the shop they expected me to pay for the whole price of the fishafter already paying separately for the chips, Instead of charging me for the difference of meal price (which I would of been more than happy to pay the difference) the shop wanted us to pay for them in full separately even through it was the waitresses mistake on the till that the fish never got put through on the OG receipt. The shop offered for free chipsbut no discount on the fish. I had already ordered chips what was supposed to be with my fish, why would I want any more chips? Thankful the chef resolved the situation well for us, however after the whole debacle the first part of my order was cold and inedible so rather disappointed and I don’t believe this would of happened with previous ownership. Hello I’m sorry for the confusion! We apologise for what happened as it shouldn’t have happened. We asked if you wanted chips with it as we would assume the chips probably would be cold , hence the question! Yes if you order Fish with chips, yes it comes with a “discount “ price ! I also understand it’s annoying when mistakes happen. Sorry yet again!

Just ordered medium cod and chips from happy cod taw hill to be told the new owner who used to be redhouse fish and chip shop has put the price of fish and chips up from £9.50 to £11.50 fair enough, I ordered got home the chips were cold and disgusting and all the crunchy scraps , if you expect people to pay more money at least serve good standards , I think it’s a liberty putting the price up like that , I won’t be going back , the chippy St Andrews ridge is better , mr cod was better before this new owner took over Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Yes you are correct, I am the one from Redhouse Plaice(sold), and I have to thank you again for the review because I wouldn’t realise I had a problem with chip box and I thank you for that , everything has been fixed now. At Andrews fish and chips is much more expensive, just their cod is £12, mine with chips is £11.90. Thank you again
