You will be served good chili dogs, spaghetti and chili burgers. Beer is delicious, try it. It is nice to try great coffee or good chocolate milk.
The homely atmosphere of this bar allows customers to relax after a hard working day. The energetic staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place great. If you want to experience fine service, you should go to Hard Times Cafe. A lot of visitors highlight that the dishes are offered for attractive prices. But yelp displays that the rating of this place is not high.

Many people may disagree, I grew up as a kid at the original location which no longer exists. This rester-aunt has many things on their menu. I would simply ignore them. I grew up knowing this was the best chili around. I was so sad when it closed but now their is one in Fairfax. The chili is what they are good at and it's probably the best chili your ever gonna have. Their Cincinnati and Texas chili are the best, you can ask for half and half. I would recommend it with spaghetti, extra sour cream, onions, and extra cheese. That would be a four way chili Mac. You will not regret having their chili, it's worth the calories and your time to eat their chili. I don't eat anything else on their menu cus their chili is the best, and you shouldn't either. I don't speak for the bar, but you cannot go wrong with the chili their.

What the heck? Just found out they are closed in Fairfax forever. Ran into employees in stairwell. Can this be true?

My father died when I was 11 and he left me with fewer abandonment issues than our server at Hard Times Cafe. We went in at 6:15pm. There were three tables and the entire place was dead. We ended up waiting 40 minutes for a hot dog and chili. I've never advocated for someone getting fired, but I think someone should put that server out of her misery. Her indifferent, incompetent, insensitive attempts at customer service were like a cry for help from someone who really doesn't want to wait tables. This place used to be run much better and it was nice. Now it's an armpit and being run into the ground. Honestly, why go to this horrible place when you could just stay home and repeatedly punch yourself in the balls?
