Feedback from patrons suggests a mixed reception, with the highlight being its atmosphere and cocktails, though the food reviews vary considerably. Some dine-in visitors compared the experience negatively against expectations, signaling a notable gap since the most recent review dates back 8 years. These older reviews mean that current potential diners may face uncertainty in what to expect from Harry Phat's today. The lack of recent updates or promotions from the owners leaves room for speculation about any developments since then.

My husband and I went to have dinner at Harry Phats in December last year.... babysitter arrived 5 mins before 8pm, in the taxi by 8pm, enjoying a beer down the road from HS about 8:15pm. Strolled up to HP about 8:45pm, ordered some food and tried to order a bottle of wine... in celebration of our 5th wedding anniversary no less and got asked how many bottles of wine we'd drunk????? The waitress was officious and patronising. When we told her we'd had one beer she said 'responsible serving, I'll only serve you a glass' and swanned off leaving me with my mouth open and my husband looking aghast. We were supposed to be enjoying a rare night out and got made to feel like children being told off for something we didn't do!! It was a Wednesday night in a restaurant. She wasn't a doorman nor was she working at a bar, she's a waitress serving food and drinks. We weren't 18 year olds out to get hammered, we weren't falling over ourselves, we weren't loud or obnoxious, we weren't displaying over the top behaviour. We wanted a nice meal AND a nice bottle of wine to go with it. Like most people do when they go out for dinner. This is where it gets confusing though, we were allowed to order one glass of wine each. Confusing... we're allowed one glass of wine but are deemed too drunk (in her eyes) to have two glasses of wine each which would've equated to one bottle?! Surely if she thought we had had too much, and she's spouting 'responsible serving' then no drinks should be served?? Makes no sense. This is taking RS to the absolute extreme - we're at a dinner table not a bar!!
So rude. Put a damper on our night. Needless to say we didn't stay. Cancelled the order with the host who was of no help, didn't offer up any sort of explanation as to restaurant policy. We left and got drenched in the rain while trying to find another place to eat. Decided on Manly Grill and got treated wonderfully.

So, so, so disappointed as we were looking forward to eating there and the more I think about it, the more annoyed I am. If we'd had several drinks, fair call but that wasn't the case here. I never feedback, I never post but I'm going to find every restaurant review website I can find and share our appalling experience.

Whilst I can appreciate she is trying to do her job. Her 'drunk' radar is completely off to deem my husband and I drunk after consuming ONE BOTTLE OF BEER! It'd be laughable if it wasn't so dam annoying.
