I visited Haruya during my first trip to Fukui and had a really enjoyable yakiniku experience. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the staff were very chatty, friendly and patient with me as a foreign traveler. I ordered the wagyu beef, which was excellent — tender, smoky, and full of flavor fresh off the grill. The kimchi was also surprisingly delicious, slightly sweet, and one of my favorite side dishes of the meal. One thing to know before visiting: there are no set courses, so you order everything individually. That may surprise some travelers used to combo meals or fixed yakiniku sets.
