Food was cold, the steam bucket with clams and shrimp. Too long for food to arrive. The shrimp and grits are great. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Visited Saturday, 1/16/21 - I would love to give this place a good review but I simply cannot. I was looking for a nice place to meet with my aunt, who I have not seen at all this past year due to the pandemic. I researched restaurants that were close to the both of us and landed on Headwaters Seafood & Grille. I was excited to try as the yelp reviews were all pretty positive. Like I normally do, I placed a beverage order and an appetizer. Up until it was time for me to place the actual entrée, my aunt and I were pretty pleased with the customer service. When it came time to order my entrée, I was stuck between the fried and broiled crab cake and even mentioned to my waiter that I wasn't sure which one I wanted. I ultimately decided on the fried crab cake and was looking forward to trying it. The waiter brought it out, I tasted it and I realized I did not like it. My aunt ordered the broiled crab cake and offered to let me try it so I did and thinking it would not be a problem, I decided I wanted to switch my fried crab cake order to the broiled one. I asked the waiter if it would be possible to make the switch and she immediately shook her head and told me I could not switch it. In complete dismay, I asked her why that was the case and she told me it was the restaurant's policy. I was very confused when she told me this as I have never heard of such a policy and asked if she could at the very least take the crab cake off of my bill if I could not be accommodated with the first request. The waiter again shook her head and proceeded to tell me that from a "business standpoint" they do not allow either of these requests because of the potential waste of food, money, etc. She told me the only way I would be able to get the food sent back is if there was something wrong with the order. In my defense, my aunt replied "is that not essentially what my niece is saying." I asked the waiter if she was the manager and she told me she was, which I am not certain is the truth but I am glad I at least asked. I then told the server (or manager) I did not want the crab cake nor anything else on the menu and was ready to end the originally wonderful time I was having with my aunt. I ended up having to pay for a meal I did not like and the food was still ultimately thrown away, which ironically was what the server claimed the restaurant wanted to avoid. I would caution anyone who is considering eating at this restaurant. I am completely shocked as I have been to numerous restaurants in my lifetime and have never heard of this. I have never not been able to be accommodated with my order and I am in complete disgust over the way this situation was handled. Not only did the restaurant ultimately waste food, they've also allowed a customer to leave their establishment completely dissatisfied. I will not be returning to Headwaters and urge others to do the same.
