We had a wonderful evening at Heimelaga. After a year of waiting until the dates worked for us, it was serendipitous that we were able to attend on May 17th (Norway Constitution Day) and felt Heimelaga was the perfect way to celebrate. The food was incredible, the interiors were cosy warm and classy, and the hosts incredible. This is an exclusive dining experience where you can try traditional Norwegian cuisine and ear stories that connect food and culture. Truly an amazing night. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Tess, serendipitous indeed it was! It was a pleasure to finally meet you and Lisa after forging a relationship via e-mail, it truly was like welcoming family home. Thank you for your kind words and feed-back, it is much appreciated. We are so pleased that HEIMELAGA met your expectations and we hope you dine with us again in the future. And a very big thank you to you and Lisa who were an integral part of the evening, it was amazing to witness the two of you mingle and engage with our other guests, this is what HEIMELAGA embodies, connection, curiosity and inclusivity all over a meal! Takk, Chef B & Sharan.

HEIMELAGA is not just a meal; it’s an experience! For about three hours, we felt transported to a cozy Norwegian town. The food was homely, authentic, and absolutely top-notch. We loved every dish, it’s hard to choose a favourite—though the Clipfisk/Bacalao Gryte (salted cod fish stew/bake) was particularly delicious and left us wanting more. Each dish came with stories of the history and culture of Norway, beautifully shared and told by the delightful Chef B and AMAZING host Sharan. Their passion for the cuisine and creating this supper club was infectious, making the evening even more special. As my first supper club experience, it was truly memorable. I can’t recommend HEIMELAGA enough for anyone wanting to savour delicious food while learning about Norwegian traditions! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

If you are looking for premium produce, an intimate night out with ambient lighting, chilled music, a quiet friendly atmosphere, and great food then look to HEIMELAGA A Norwegian Supper Club in Melbourne. What I loved most about the restaurant itself is that its small, quaint and seats approximately 2 – 14 people only, so if like me I adored the fact that it wasn’t noisy and loud. Upon arriving, Sharon and Chef B, made us feel so welcome you would think we had walked into their private home as long - time friends who were treated the most delicious meal with lots of love added. Having never tasted Norwegian food, my husband and I were excited to try something new. We left full, content and with a new love of this cuisine. For starters we had a Nork Board that included traditional homemade crisp breads with the most succulent toppings I have ever eaten including Danish blue cheese, smoked salmon all the way from Norway, brennevins gin infused juniper berry and lime marmalade and Norwegians famous brown cheese which is sweet and chewy to name a few. For mains we had Brennsnut which is Norwegians clear soup with vegetables. And we can concur it is a true hug in a bowl which has been slow cooked/simmered to perfection. With a light taste of salt, you most definitely don’t loose the taste of the vegetables, nor each ingredient that has gone into it. Now let’s talk about the beef stew, Sosekjott with garlic roasted potatoes. Firstly, lets talk about the potatoes. When I do roast potatoes I cut them, shove them in the oven and wait 45 minutes. Boy have I been doing it wrong! I learnt a lot from Sharan and realised that to get them to a perfect crispy on the outside, soft on the inside takes 3 hours of love. Layered on top of these is thyme and butter. Delicious. Now for the beef stew that goes with the potatoes. I’ve had a lot of home-made beef stews in my life to the point where I never wanted to eat this dish ever again, however after eating Chef B’s I have a new adoration of the dish. The beef is the softest, rich in flavourpiece of meat I have ever tried. The juice and sauce that comes with the dish is full of flavour but light and not heavy in taste. I had a second helping I loved it that much. During this whole time Sharan topped our glasses with amazing Akevitt carried all the way from Norway and local wine. I must also mention the presentation of each plate which is stylish, pretty with each piece of food picture worthy. With a little break in-between, we finished off our meal with a delicate piece of Blotkake. If you are like me and love your sponges, but don’t like anything too sugary then this cake will have you licking your lips. Filled with banana and cream on the inside, a light slither of cream around the cake with a lavish amount of strawberries on top. YUM yum yum. Everything was washed away with Tim Wendelboe Coffee. And if the night couldn’t get any better, Chef B served us each dish as he curated in fine detail the history behind each dish. Sharan and Chef B are so proud of what they have created, and we were so happy with the night which lasted approximately 3 hours which would make this a wonderful night for a special occasion, intimate dinner, birthday, anniversary or just because. We have booked in again and can’t wait to try their new menu. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
