The food it great. Service it phenomenal and portion sizes are plentiful. The server asked me if I had any food allergies. It’s rare that somebody asks me that, but I can definitely understand when you have customers coming to a different cuisine with different ingredients. It’s a good question to ask. It came highly recommended so I figured I’d make the drive down from the Worcester area. Was not disappointed. I’ll definitely go again. Price per person: $40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Since coming to the United States, I have often felt homesick and missed the warmth of home. Over the years, I have visited many Afghan restaurants, including Ariana Afghan Kebab and Afghan Kebab House in New York City, Bonjon Rumi in Washington, D.C., and Ariana Restaurant in Boston. As someone who was born and raised in Afghanistan, I often found myself asking, “Is this really Afghan food?” Some experiences left me disappointed. At a few restaurants, the Qabuli Palaw was served with uncooked raisins and nuts, which is not how I grew up eating it. In others, the Qabuli tasted like leftovers or was served cold. At some places, I also felt a lack of hospitality from the staff. For Afghans, hospitality is at the heart of our culture, and it is an important part of the dining experience. None of those restaurants made me feel at home the way The Helmand Restaurant does. From my very first visit, I felt a genuine connection to the place, and it has since become a restaurant I return to regularly for my favorite meals. What makes The Helmand special is not just the authentic Afghan cuisine, but the entire experience. The staff are incredibly welcoming and kind, making every guest feel valued. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with elements that reflect the charm and culture of an Afghan home, creating a warm and familiar atmosphere. Most importantly, the food is truly authentic. Every dish reminds me of the flavors I grew up with and brings back cherished memories of home. For me, The Helmand is more than a restaurant—it is a place where I can reconnect with my roots and feel a little closer to Afghanistan. For anyone looking to experience genuine Afghan hospitality and authentic Afghan cuisine, I highly recommend The Helmand Restaurant. The food tastes gooood, from the appetizers to the main course and the deserts as well. Great chef and staff are all welcoming and attentive to your every need. This was an overall good experience! Me and a few friends went hear for for dinner and walked out with our taste buds satisfied! We started off with appetizers that were really tasty , I had the pumpkin with yogurt and ground beef which was phenomenal, I had the lamb chops with the pillow rice with the raisins and carrots, at first I was skeptical but after eating it I wanted more, paired so well with the lamb and roasted veggies. For dessert I had the rice pudding which was great. My taste buds left happy and they will be returning soon to sooth my taste buds!
