An early morning start was mandatory as it is a long drive back to Southern California. A hearty breakfast was definitely in order. Located on the first floor, Heritage is Whitney Peak Hotel’s restaurant. Described like the extended version of an INXS song, “Cultivate. Congregate. Celebrate.”, Heritage sources food from local area farms and ranches. Scratch kitchen dishes are inspired by the seasonal foods and show inventiveness with a culinary flair. The interior is inspired by the mountains and woods that surround Reno and uses reclaimed wood furnishings to provide an outdoorsy feeling with rustic décor. Floor to ceiling windows provide ample lighting during the day. The service is friendly, courteous, and attentive.

Disappointing. Our party of four, did not have reservations, but we're told we could sit in a lounge area, right of the bar. The problem here is that that small area does not have waitress service. The coffee table therefore was not cleared of cocktail classes, etc and we needed to get someone to clear it. Additional, anything we wanted, we needed to go to the busy undermanned bar to order. The bartender didn't communicate at all. Leaving us wondering if we were to wait for our drinks or return to our area.
The food - Three of us ordered the Moody Foodie Burger, a half pound Angus burger that supposed to included white cheddar, beer battered onion ring, mushrooms, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, carmelized onion mayo on a salted pretzel bun. No where to be found was the battered onion ring, the bacon wasn't discovered until 3 quarters way through, and very little slivers of mushrooms. The french fries were dripping with grease. The Angus itself was good, but for the price, lack of toppings, and fries, we'll pass.
The Three Cheese Cavatappi - there's al dente and then there's undercooked, good, but too much chewing involved.

Awesome place, awesome food, awesome service, I will be back! New Year's Trip from San Francisco....loved the ambiance....you can even take kids (well behaved of course) Is already in my list!
