I recently dined at this Japanese restaurant, and I have to say, it’s far from authentic. I ordered the Oyako Don, which was incredibly salty and soaked in soy sauce, making it unpleasant to eat. Along with the donburi, I tried a few different types of sushi. The toro and hamachi sushi were acceptable, but the ikura sushi was terrible. It had a strong fishy smell, and it seemed like the ikura had been sitting out for a while. After one bite, I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. The saba sushi was equally disappointing. They torched the surface, which gave it an overpowering burnt smell that completely masked the natural taste of the saba. I have no idea why they thought burning the fish was necessary, but it resulted in the worst saba sushi I’ve ever had. Overall, the food quality was subpar, and it didn’t live up to the standards of authentic Japanese cuisine. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

Not sure why some reviews said the quality went down, going there regularly since 2017, it is the same if not better for that yam cheese roll, the veggie don is generous and Bento boxes too with nice individual plates. The soba noodles were a bit salty but overall it's a good place for the variety, prices and the excellent service. The booths add the little authenticity for those who like it, otherwise regular tables are plenty. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: CA$50–60 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

I enjoy going to Hi-Nippon Japanese restaurant, I always order the grilled meats and seafood, like this Salmon Teriyaki on a bed of bean sprouts, over a sizzling iron plate! as it is a meal, comes with miso soup, rice and salad. The prices are good especially for lunch time! They renovated lights and chairs!
