Hideout on High located along High Street, Preston opened its doors late last year. They offer an all day menu featuring modern Australian cuisine with cute pun names. Visiting for weekend brunch we ordered the pakora and eggs in purgatory to eat along with a chai and coffee to drink. Everything we ordered came out beautifully presented including the latte art on the drinks. The pakora corn, zucchini & cauliflower fritters with bashed avocado was excellent. The dish was nicely balanced and the flavours and textures worked together beautifully. As it was cold and raining when I visited I was in the mood for something warm and comforting. The eggs in purgatory hit the spot. The dish features Sicilian sausage, bacon and eggs in house made tomato & bean cassoulet. The cassoulet was full of flavour and had a subtle level of spice which I liked. The eggs were perfectly poached and the sourdough nicely absorbed everything. Overall I had a fantastic experience at Hideout on High. The team were friendly and the food was delicious. I rate it out of 5 and recommend you check them out if in the area. Thanks very much for having me.
