Best coffee in Decatur. I’ve tried all the places. Piper and leaf teas. I wasn’t prepared for how good the chicken club sandwich was going to be. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

What happened to this place? I've been coming to High Point Market for years and for a long time, it was one of my favorite spots in Downtown Decatur. Great vibes, a warm atmosphere, always clean, and coffee that was genuinely worth the trip. I recommended it to everyone. Not anymore. I walked in recently and it felt like I was stepping into an abandoned building. Half the lights were off, casting the whole place in this dim, depressing haze and I was the only customer in there. A place that used to have a buzzing, lively crowd was completely empty, and honestly, it wasn't hard to see why. As my eyes adjusted, I started noticing things I never thought I'd see here holes in the walls, visible dirt that clearly hadn't been swept in days, and an active leak dripping from the ceiling. Not water stains. An actual, ongoing drip falling from the ceiling onto the floor. I genuinely wasn't sure if it was safe to be inside. The coffee, which used to be one of the best cups I could find locally, tasted burnt and watered down at the same time — like it had been sitting on the burner for hours. The presentation was sloppy, and the whole experience just felt careless. The once-charming local art and market display felt dusty and neglected. The only thing that hasn't changed? The staff are still genuinely kind. But nice people can't make up for a space that feels unsafe and a product that's fallen so far from what it used to be. I hope ownership takes a hard look at what's happening here, because this place used to be a real gem in Decatur. Right now, it's hard to recommend to anyone. I’m not sure if there are new owners but it seems like to be a complete vibe shift. The matcha I ordered tastes like soap and cologne, and very milky. Also the room seems to be darker than usual. I say this as a warning to the owners, if they don’t pick back up on the quality of their drinks this won’t last much longer. The place I used to enjoy working in I won’t be coming back anytime soon.
