Eating at this restaurant with a wonderful view of Spokane Convention Center will be a beautiful experience for customers. Serving good broth, calamari and ribeye is the feature of Hills' Restaurant and Lounge. Most guests recommend trying tasty ice cream. After a long working week, you can taste delicious draft beer, scotch or wine. Most likely, you'll return to this place later to degust great lemonade.

The intimate atmosphere of this spot allows visitors to relax after a hard working day. On the top of all that, the staff is knowledgeable. This restaurant is notable for its spectacular service. Based on the guests' opinions, prices are attractive. Also, the lounge area is terrific. But Hills' Restaurant and Lounge didn't gain a high score on the Zomato rating list.

It was sad to hear of the closing of this local restaurant, back in the early 90's when this restaurant opened up in the place where the old Albertini's restaurant used to be was pretty cool. It was the father Jim and the 2 sons Steve and Dave, which comprised of a bunch of restaurant experience between the 3 of them. I remember going into the cool old restaurant that was kinda dark and serious "old school", the bar seated maybe 8 people and the big corner vinyl seating that would swallow you up when you sat down. Yeah there was something charming about that old restaurant, then they were able to expand it and opened up a room which was a bit quieter. But it was being in either the bar or the original dining area where the action was. Hill's had a great menu from serious steaks, "fresh" pasta dishes and super salads as well as the "scotch egg". Mmmmm the black and bleu steak was to die for. Anyways I am digressing, if you were a regular you felt like you were at home. I remember walking in there and Steve greeting me and said "Hey Craig, I have something you need to try", It was my first taste of Patron agave Tequila, Steve said don't shoot this stuff it is for sipping. As a former bartender at the Original "Viking Tavern" back in the 90's I got a little more personal service from the Hill's. As they would whenever I saw them at the "Viking", Hill's was known for a place where people who were in the same business "restaurant servers/barkeeps" would go there after work and relax and have a good drink and great conversation. Back then Hill's was very trendy and super busy, it was awesome seeing their dad there, Jim was a great man. People probably don't even realize that Hill's pioneered the "Brew Dinners" here in Spokane. Pairing entrees with beers and having the Brewer show up and discuss the beers, yeah this was back when craft beer was called "Micro brews". I met some pretty cool forerunners of the Craft beer industry, like Bert Grant, John Maier head Brewmaster at Rogue among others. Yeah that was a really, really exciting and fun time in Spokane, because being a bartender at the Viking I was on the other end of the spectrum of the Micro brew explosion in the 90's. Sadly though, Jim Hill passed away and then a few years later the building where the original Hill's "Someplace Else" Restaurant was in was sold and all the unique businesses there had to close to make way for of all things a parking lot. I would run into the the brothers occasionally in the early 2000's, I would see Dave frequently and ask Dave when they were going to reopen Hill's. Dave's reply was always the same "Next Thursday", but then I heard they had finally found a place and it was down on Main street and Washington, I remember walking into the building during construction just when the custom bar was starting to be built walking thru the visqueen among the rubble and dust and there was Steve who greeted me. He was so happy and proud to be re-opening and was so excited about the custom bar being built. I remember that day like it was yesterday, I was so excited about the re-opening of this restaurant. I remember when it opened and walking into the new digs and instantly fell in love with this "new" place as a patron. There was Steve and my former boss and mentor Mike O'Brien bartending, and of course Chef Dave. I will always have fond memories of Hill's restaurant as both a patron and as a seasonal worker for 1 day a year on St Patrick's day parade day for many years. Back in the 90's, Hill's Someplace Else captured lightning in a bottle on Sprague avenue and held it for quite awhile. But when they moved and returned, dynamics had changed within the Spokane Restaurant scene, yes, the food was still awesome and the spanking brand new place was beautiful. But it never seemed the same, I just wish that I had frequented it more often, but times changed, and I will miss this place and my friends Steve and Dave. I have read a few reviews from the past few years and it  saddened me to read some of the negative and mean spirited reviews that people wrote about this establishment, oh well, they don't know how good this place really was. It was a great ride for both of you Steve and Dave, I enjoyed being a patron as well as the work I did for you guys. Peace my friends. Craig

Thanks to their bizarre methods of customer service, I still haven't eaten at Hills' Restaurant & Lounge. A group of friends and I went into Hills' earlier this summer around 5 pm hoping to get a good meal. When we walked into the restaurant, we were immediately cut off by the hostess who informed us that they were about an hour to an hour and a half behind so they weren't seating people at this time. The restaurant was almost empty except for a handful of tables with groups of 2-5 people. It was Hoopfest weekend so if it had been packed, this would have been completely understandable. Due to the lack of patrons in the restaurant and the fact that we asked if the other tables were reserved and she said no, we were utterly confused. She then offered that we could wait at the bar but it would be at least an hour before we could place orders for food of any sort. We declined and decided to go The Steelhead where we get much better service and actually got food. To this day, we have no idea why they were so far behind. Even if it was a case of only having one chef on hand, someone didn't show up to work, someone went home sick, etc. it doesn't make sense why she wouldn't have explained the situation and instead was rather rude which completely turned us off. I walk by this restaurant quite often and still haven't eaten there and probably won't eat there because that incident is still fresh in my mind.
