Hit Cat may be the future of bars but I really hope not. Tacked onto the side of a shopping mall (note to those trying to find it - what the mall calls GF is actually the basement), drinking here is a frustrating experience. I arrived and asked for a menu - the waiter mumbled and pointed to a QR code on the table. Normally that would be my cue to go elsewhere (if a venue can't be bothered to provide service, I can't be bothered to patronise them) but in Taipei, bars are few & far between so I decided to stay and ordered via their online page, which worked very well. I had 3 beers from a very limited selection (disappointing given the size of the place), all of which were excellent, and a basket of nachos, which were clearly from the bottom of the bag given how smashed up they were. I was literally the only customer for the first hour, yet not one of the staff made an attempt to engage with me. If this was a bar in, say, Bangkok, Saigon or Osaka, I'd have ended up chatting with the owner or the staff and having a good old time. Not here. At one point another customer (another foreigner) came in, sat down, and was totally ignored despite at least four staff members sitting around doing nothing. After ten minutes he got up and left and they just watched him leave. No attempt to serve him, no apology, nothing. Just pathetic. I appreciate bad service is the norm in Taipei and the locals' English isn't good, but this was a new low. Yes, the beer was good, but that's all I can say (and it's why they get 2 stars instead of 1). This was a cold, soulless drinking experience in a venue that could be so much better. Oh, and the music absolutely SUCKS. Price per person: NT$800–1,000 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

A bit tricky to find, we wandered off into the Breeze department store but it is not in there. They have a good selection of craft beers. A very convenient app to order your beers as well. A beer is 250 NT$. Price per person: NT$400–600 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
