Cute storybook style building with green shingle roof in Phoenix and have been waiting to go by. Stopped in at 3:35pm because I saw they had desserts and was in the area. I knew they served food & drinks, but squealed like a pig when I saw the desserts...because I am a baker and sweet snob, and being new to PHX, am scoping out bakeries and joints to get my sugar on. I know this is off peak time, having worked in the industry for a number of years. Little bit of off street parking. Exterior needs a little lovin' but passable. Old house converted into business, which I am here for. Art all over (I hope local art for sale as I am also here for that), cozy interior, mismatched furniture. Great start! One older gentleman in the back corner but no other customers, so good for me! Not a host, bartender or server to greet me or ask how they can help, so I stood inside for about 2-3 minutes before a young female bartender came up from somewhere, didn't say hi, barely smiled and just stood at the register. They have many cookies and just a few pastries, much to my chagrin. I ordered a brownie and cinnamon roll - they are huge! Fairly priced. Asked if there were nuts in the brownies, she wasn't sure so she asked a cook/chef in the back. Boxed up in basic plastic. Went to the bathroom before leaving - poor thing, it needs help. Dark, dirty, toilet paper holder broken, one of two paper towel dispensers not working. Came back up to the register to grab my vittles and said thank you. Neither the bartender nor cook/chef acknowledged me or said "thank you" nor "you're welcome" and the male cook/chef was right at the register where I was standing. Silence. Got out to my car, took a bite of the brownie and haz the sadz. It's dry and spongey, not thick & gooey like a brownie should be. Flavor was ok. Cinnamon roll about as big as my two fists (I have small hands but still) was light & fluffy like I like them but could handle more butter in the prep process. Due to my aforementioned foodie situation, I am super judgey about pastries and desserts. Perhaps both would have been better warm, which was not offered nor did I ask. Overall, loved the physical ambience. Service, huge fail.   Will I go back? Probably not, unless I could buy this building and turn it into a bakery & coffee house.

Frankly, the only thing holding this place back is the horrible parking situation. It's cosy, charming and in a good location.

Hob Nobs is one of our very favorite locations in all of Phoenix. I almost don't want to give such a good review because I don't want to reveal this to the whole city!  Yet, it's such a solid concept restaurant, I must share with all of you. Good drinks, amazing and unique plates of food and an environment indoors or outdoors that begs for you to hang around and enjoy yourself or your company. Tons of room, spacious settings--go here. Just don't hog the place!!!   I have been going here for many years so you can trust my judgment.
