Everyone there was very kind and helpful, the hostess did her best to accommodate us even as foreigners and when she learned we were from LA was very excited to talk to us about baseball. This place has a warm atmosphere and the chef even offered us sake. I had the yakisoba which was a share plate, and the shitake skewers were delicious! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000

One of the most genuine izakaya experiences I’ve had in Japan. Hidden in a quiet back street of Shizuoka, this place is all about passion—for food, for people, and especially for sake. The master’s love for sake and good drinks shines through every pour, and the food is so incredible I didn’t even stop for photos. If you’re visiting Mt.
