I was just cruising down Mesa on my way to pick up my Panda Express order when I noticed a multitude of traffic cones being set up. Remember that the road is scheduled for construction until August 2024, at the latest, as they're resurfacing and redoing it. I began conversing with some of the business owners along the street, and they expressed concern about how this construction would impact their businesses.  It made me think that perhaps we can extend a helping hand and support them during this challenging period. After all, they've already weathered the storm of COVID, and now they're facing another setback. So, I've made the decision to spotlight some of the businesses on Mesa Street to provide them with a little boost and remind people that they're still open for business, even amidst all the construction activity. The first business I want to shine a spotlight on is Homesweets.  This delightful establishment is run by a mother-daughter duo who initially started at the farmer's market and rapidly gained popularity. Now, they have their own shop tucked away next to AJ's Diner. They specialize in mouthwatering tres leches cakes (available in various flavors), chocoflans, and other delectables like mostachon, available in individual-sized treats and whole cakes. I first came across Homesweets when my friend Joyie surprised me with a tres leches cake for my birthday when I first moved to El Paso. Since then, I've been a loyal customer for all my cake needs.  Today, I dropped by to inform them about the upcoming construction and to ensure they have their famous chocolate-chocolate cake ready for my daughter's birthday. I was pleasantly surprised to discover some new murals adorning their walls, and I couldn't resist capturing a few photos.  This place exudes a charming Hispanic vibe, and they proudly showcase homemade and natural products that represent their Mexican culture. If you're in the area, I highly recommend paying a visit to Homesweets. They're offering three cakes for just $20, and believe me, they're all absolutely delicious. My personal favorites include the chocolate-chocolate, mostachon with fresh fruit, and the cheesecake with apple fritters. Yum! Let's demonstrate our support for these local businesses and assist them in thriving. They're the heart and soul of our community, and without our support, they won't be able to make it. So, drop by Homesweets and other fantastic businesses on Mesa Street to savor some incredible treats and spread the love.  -TODOELPASO Home Sweets Home Made Desserts 7104 N Mesa St, El Paso, TX 79912
