We both had the chicken fried steak which seemed to be a talked about favorite. Whom ever wrote those reviews have never had a good chicken fried steak. It was an absolute #FAIL. The cut of meat used wasn’t tenderized at all and the breading was burned and the interior RAW. almost as if they may have par boiled the meat. First time I’d had CFS cooked on a flat grill. I do not base my patronage on a first impression. Perhaps I’ll have the fish if we return.
Service was good, surroundings were cozy and fresh. Deserts looked to be made in house. The cornbread nuggets served with the complimentary pintos were quite delicious.
My side choices were the Cowboy Corn and green beans. All very good save the train wreck of my entrée. I’d like the opportunity to train the cook in the proper way to prepare a Traditional TEXAS CFS.
