Celebrated another colleague's bday at lunch (9 people). This time we asked the server to have the cook not add so much salt and oil to the dishes. The food was better! The gai-lan sauteed with garlic was better than the oyster sauce, the eggplant was lighter, although one of us remarked that the fish filet could've been tastier. We also enjoyed the roast pork, shrimp with walnuts (one of our favorites) and two orders (1 order has 4 rolls) of egg rolls for 9 people. Cons: plates are salad not dinner plates. When I asked Candy, our server, for larger plates, she said that's how they come. Lazy Susans were desperately needed bc it was awkward to hold and scoop from the large plates of food with sauce sliding off to the side. When I advised the server of this, she said the Lazy Susans would be too large for the table. Get larger tables? Lazy Susans don't come in various sizes? Service was relatively quick. We had to wait for our eggplant which came last. Server told us the eggplant had to be cut which was why it was late. Not enough help in the kitchen? Parking on the street. Service from Candy was great. Much better lunch this time bc there was less salt and oil in the dishes. Plus we ordered less meat. We felt lighter. Love the generous portions. Just wish they'd have Lazy Susans and regular dinner plates.

Hong Kong BBQ Restaurant in Chinatown, Los Angeles, is a haven for those craving authentic Cantonese cuisine, particularly their standout dish – the succulent and flavorful roast duck. Walking into this cozy eatery, the aromas of roasting meats immediately entice the senses. The ambiance might be simple, but the focus is undoubtedly on the quality and taste of the food. The star of the show, their roast duck, is impeccably prepared – crispy skin with a tender, juicy interior bursting with aromatic flavors. The seasoning is well-balanced, enhancing the natural richness of the duck without overpowering it. Aside from the delectable duck, the menu offers an array of classic Cantonese barbecue items, showcasing perfectly charred pork, crispy pork belly, and savory soy chicken. Each dish demonstrates the mastery of traditional cooking techniques and attention to detail. The service at Hong Kong BBQ Restaurant is friendly, although the place can get quite busy during peak hours, leading to longer waiting times. Prices are reasonable, considering the quality and portion sizes. For lovers of authentic Cantonese BBQ, Hong Kong BBQ Restaurant in Chinatown is a must-visit.
